At City Ballet of Maryland, we believe dance is more than movement—it’s a journey of artistry, discipline, and self-discovery. Our programs pair exceptional technical training with character development, resilience, and creativity, helping every dancer grow as an artist and as a person.

As Maryland’s premier training ground for aspiring dancers, we blend classical ballet tradition with innovative contemporary work. Our certified faculty, led by Managing Director Kristen S. Stevenson, provide a nurturing environment where students of all ages and levels can thrive. From early training to pre-professional development, our approach focuses on healthy technique, artistry, and community engagement.

City Ballet of Maryland is an American Ballet Standards Institute (ABSI) Registered School. Our existing curriculum meets ABSI’s nine-level standards. Beginning in May 2027, eligible dancers may complete an ABSI examination and receive an official level certificate. Learn more about ABSI.

City Ballet is a dynamic and inclusive training ground where dancers of all ages and backgrounds are empowered to grow—not just as performers, but as people. Our mission extends beyond technique; we are committed to nurturing the whole artist through discipline, creativity, and community.

At the heart of our programming is the City Ballet Studio Company, which provides dancers with exceptional performance opportunities both locally and internationally. Most recently, our company traveled to Paris and Portugal, offering our dancers the invaluable experience of performing and studying dance on a global stage.

City Ballet of Maryland is an American Ballet Standards Institute (ABSI) Registered School.
